Country Garden to Kitchen Garden
Earlier this spring we had the pleasure of installing this beautiful kitchen garden in New Albany, Ohio.
Our wonderful client reached out to me over the winter. They had recently relocated to a suburban neighborhood from an area in the country. At their old house they had a very large vegetable garden and she was missing that space.
She wanted a large kitchen garden, but it was important to her that it looked beautiful and like it belonged in their backyard.
They also had two small children and four dogs, so she didn’t want to take up too much yard space.
She was so excited to grow this season with her young son and to have a space that she could escape to when life felt crazy.
It was such a joy to design and install this four garden classic in the space just off of their patio and right outside of their kitchen window.
We used 2 arched trellises to maximize her growing space. We also discussed how to plant with the seasons and use succession planting in order to maximize her growing space.
We decided to border the garden with cedar timbers to create a more seamless border between the garden and the grass. And to prevent little feet from tripping over a raised border.
We have loved working with this client and her beautiful family!
